MEET NATALIE

Hello there

Early

I spent my childhood in the Meade Park neighborhood, attending what is currently called Burnley-Moran Elementary (go Bobcats!), playing T-ball in the park, and horsing around with my parents and brother. I spent summers volunteering at Martha Jefferson Hospital, scooped ice cream for years on the downtown mall, and probably played soccer or swam in summer league with you or your kids.

Middle

I attended Charlottesville High School, participating in orchestra, track, theater, volunteering with Young Liberals of Central Virginia (pictured left at Pro-Choice Lobby Day), participated in Sorenson Institute for Public Leadership high school program, and presided over the National Honor Society my senior year in 2007. I then went across town to UVA for undergrad, where I studied History, American Studies, and Art History. After graduating in 2011, a job moved me to Charleston, South Carolina, where I continued my political involvement by working for a city councilor. I completed a Masters program in International Hospitality and Tourism at University of South Carolina, returning to Charlottesville in 2016.

Now

I currently live in the Meade Park neighborhood again, and put my graduate degree to use working as a wedding sales manager for a local winery. I’ve been in the hospitality and events industry since moving back home, engaging with locals, tourists, and small businesses every day. My background in business, where I build consensus with a wide variety of clients in an emotional and deadline-driven context has prepared me well for public service.

Now, the community is looking forward to an uncertain future, with concerns about housing, safety, social equity, schools, transportation, and the environment. I am eager to be a part of the leadership of Charlottesville, representing a bright future for my generation, those who raised us, and those we are bringing up.
